Planking the Kayak Hull
Once you have the strongback set up, you get to start building the kayak hull. With most designs, including the Endeavour Sea Kayak, you start from the gunwale and apply the strips moving up toward the centerline. One tip is to apply the strips with the cove side of the bead and cove at the top. This lets you lay out the glue for the next strip without having it run down over the strips that are already on the form. For this kayak, we chose to use staples to hold the strips to the station molds.
