Building the Kayak Hatches & Cockpit
Well, did you do a neat job cutting out the holes for the hatches in your kayak? I hope so, because now you get to use those cut outs to make your hatch covers. You also get to dust off your pile of clamps to frame the cockpit of your almost finished kayak. On this kayak the cockpit molding is built up using layers of marine plywood. You could use laminated layers of natural wood, combined with some steam bending. This particular technique is one that Scott learned from the folks at Canadian Canoes.
