About
This site is a combined effort of Scott McCurdie, Rob Waywell and our web master. While our web developer is providing the technical expertise to actually run a website, the theory is that Scott and I will provide the experience from actually building a kayak.
In addition to sharing our own experiences and the lessons learned from our own project (and hopefully more to come), we are also aiming to make this site a useful resource for anyone setting out to build their first kayak, or even their first kayak using a given method. From our own searching and daydreaming we know that there are many great resources already out there on the web, whether you are building a cedar strip kayak, a stitch and glue kayak, a skin on frame kayak or a hybrid. We can’t possibly hope to replace the wealth of information already out there, but with a little luck we might be able to help you find the information you’re looking for and maybe even add some of our own tips.
Building a boat of any type can be a great experience. I know that I’ve definitely convinced one person to build his own kayak (and Scott still hasn’t forgiven me
) and with this site maybe we can convince even more folks that they really can build their own kayak.
